I have had a passion for learning physics and mathematics since high school. Till now, I wanted to look for internships, research work, and projects, and suddenly, I applied to the Tensor PSI Undergraduate Winter School for Theoretical Physics in January 2022 and got selected. Selection processes were based on basic knowledge of quantum mechanics and quantum information; about 100 students from all over the country and neighboring countries applied. It was organized in collaboration with the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, Canada. This winter school aims to bring together some of the brightest physics undergraduates from Bangladesh and some neighboring countries for two weeks and give them a blended learning experience on some topics that are not usually covered in undergraduate physics curricula. The following topics were covered:
1) Symmetries (by Dr. Giuseppe Sellaroli)
2) Quantum Information (by Dr. Alioscia Hamma)
3) Path Integrals (by Dr. Dan Wohns)
4) Numerical Methods (by Dr. Aaron Szasz)
Our organizer and supervisor was Dr. Tibra Ali (theoretical physicist, PSI, Canada). Around 30 university students participate in this program, forming a lovely community to explore theoretical physics and mathematics. We explore this program for about 2 weeks with the help of 4 highly talented mentors.
Sowmitra Das (MSc. in Pure Mathematics, Imperial College London)
Shahnewaz Ahmed (M.Sc. in Theoretical Physics, PI, Canada)
Shaikat Jahan Shuvo (PhD, City University of New York, USA)
Ahmed Kamal Rakin (MSc in Theoretical Physics at Alma Mater Studiorum, Università di Bologna)
It was a beautiful journey, and it gives me positive motivation to learn a lot from this program.
